This article describes common problems you may encounter using TSL 1128, 1153, 1166, 2128, 2166 RFID devices and helps you to resolve them. The example below uses the TSL 2128 but steps are similar for the other devices listed in this article
The possible issues are:
Switching ON the TSL 2128 Device:
A. Press the device’s trigger button to awake / ON the reader.
B. Then its LED lights up Green along with beep & vibration; means power is on.
Switching OFF the Device:
The TSL 2128P reader powers off automatically when no longer connected to any device and idle.
When the TSL 2128 device is powered on, the “Bluetooth Status” LED light will automatically start flashing Blue – this indicates that TSL-2128 device is now in discoverable mode and ready to pair with a nearby Android device.
1. Open the TagMatiks Wedge application and login into it.
2. In the Manage Reader option,you can check the reader’s connection status; as shown below(Fig 0.3).
3. As no RFID reader is paired with this Android device; thus, the status is showing as:“Reader Disconnected”. as shown below (Fig 0.3).
4.To make the connection with TSL 2128 reader; Click on “Manage Reader” option.
NOTE: Make sure the Android device’s Bluetooth must be on.
5. Then multiple RFID reader options will come on the display as shown below (Fig 0.4)
6. You must select “TSL RFID Readers”.
7. Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”as shown below (Fig 0.5)
8. Bring TSL 2128 reader close to Android device.
9. Application will show the discoverable reader’s name; as shown below (Fig 0.5)
10. The reader’s name will be “TSL XXXXXX- 2128P”; where “XXXXXX” is the six-digit value of device serial number. As shown in Fig 0.6.
11. E.g. In the below image, the value “002789” is the device serial number. As show in Fig 0.6.
NOTE:
When no TSL 2128 reader is there nearby the Android device. OR If the Bluetooth of TSL 2128 reader is Off. OR TSL 2128 Reader is not in pairing mode. OR TSL 2128 Reader is already paired with another Android/iOS device.
Then TagMatiks Wedge application will show “No Available Readers.” Refer below image[Fig 0.7].
If the TSL 2128 device is “ON” but couldn’t connect to the Android device. Then there is a possibility that the TSL 2128 device is already paired & connected to another Android/iOS device. To check the same, please follow the following steps.
I. TSL 2128 device LED status check:
1. Check the status of the “Bluetooth Status” light.
If it is solid, “Blue”means TSL 2128 device is already paired with another Android/iOS device; as shown in the image below: Fig 0.8.
II. On TagMatiks Wedge Application: TSL 2128 Reader check:
1. Click on the “Manage Reader” button option -from the home page of Application. As shown in Fig 0.9.
2. You must select “TSL-2128 RFID Readers”. As shown in Fig 1.0.
NOTE: Make sure the Android’s Bluetooth must be on and near to the TSL reader.
3. Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”
4. If no reader comes/reflects in the reader list.
5. This means:
Either no TSL RFID reader is there nearby the Android device OR TSL Reader is already paired with another Android/iOS device.
Then TagMatiks Wedge application will show “No Available Readers.” Refer below image.1.1.
1. To read the RFID tags from TSL 2128 reader: Click on “Inventory” button option from the Home Page. As shown in Fig 1.2.
2. Then a new window will open, named: “Inventory.” As shown in Fig 1.3.
3. Create a new Inventory transaction, by clicking on + Icon . As shown in Fig 1.3.
4. Click on Scan Button for Inventory ,for reading the RFID tags. As shown in Fig 1.4.
5. The TSL 2128 reader is in polling state and reading the tags. Same can be seen in the application window.As shown in Fig 1.5.
6. Once you Press the “Stop” button (on the right bottom of the application); the, reader will stop reading the tags.
7. As a result, the read tags will populate on the application window, as shown in below image.As shown in Fig 1.6.
