Setting up Your RFID Device - TSL 1128, 1153, 1166, 2128, 2166

Summary

This section contains setup information for using TSL UHF (RAIN) RFID readers with TagMatiks Wedge. These readers are similar in operation but different in form-factor. The TSL 1153 and TSL 1166 are the same configuration and steps to connect with TagMatiks Wedge.

Pre-requisites

You must have a charged TSL UHF (RAIN) RFID reader to continue the setup steps.

Getting Setup with the TSL UHF (RAIN) RFID

Turn ON the reader.

Both the 1166 and 1128 can easily be turned ON by pulling the trigger or pressing the Power button. The connection Status LED will blink blue as indication of the reader being awake and ready to connect.

A. Add Bluetooth Device to iPhone or iPad.

1. Go to the Bluetooth settings of the device and select the “002789-2128P” Device. As shown in Fig 0.1.

2. Open the TagMatiks Wedge application and login into it. As shown in Fig 0.2.

3. In the Manage Reader option,you can check the reader’s connection status; as shown below(Fig 0.2).

4.To make the connection with TSL 2128 reader; Click on “Manage Reader” option from the homepage of the Application.

NOTE: Make sure the Android device’s Bluetooth must be on.

5. Then multiple RFID reader options will come on the display as shown below(Fig 0.3).

6. You must select “TSL RFID Readers”. Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”as shown below in Fig 0.4.

7. Bring the TSL 2128 reader close to the Android device. Application will show the discoverable reader’s name; as shown below (Fig 0.4).

8. The reader’s name will be “TSL XXXXXX- 2128P”; where “XXXXXX” is the six-digit value of device serial number. As shown in Fig 0.5.

9. E.g. In the below image, the value “002789” is the device serial number. As show in Fig 0.5.

The Reader Settings has the following options :

  • Antenna Power (dBm) : Adjusts the range of the RFID handheld or sled.
  • Battery - displays the battery of the RFID handheld or sled.
  • Beeper Volume - Adjusts the volume level of the beeper to Low , Medium or High.

NOTE: Toggle the Auto Reconnect option to let the application automatically connect to the reader.

B. RFID Tags are scanned By TSL 2128P reader.

1. To read the RFID tags from TSL 2128 reader: Click on “Inventory” button option from the Home Page. As shown in Fig 0.7.

2. Then a new window will open, named: “Inventory.” As shown in Fig 0.8.

3. Create a new Inventory transaction, by clicking on + Icon . As shown in Fig 0.8.

4. Click on Scan Button for Inventory ,for reading the RFID tags. As shown in Fig 0.9.

5. The TSL 2128 reader is in polling state and reading the tags. Same can be seen in the application window.As shown in Fig 1.0.

6. Once you Press the “Stop” button (on the right bottom of the application); the, reader will stop reading the tags.

7. As a result, the read tags will populate on the application window, as shown in below image.As shown in Fig 1.1.
