This article describes common problems you may encounter using Caen – skID RFID device and helps you to resolve them.
The possible issues are:
Switching ON the qID Mini Device:
1. Press the Power button continuously for 3 seconds only.
2. Then its LED light up GREEN along with beep & vibration; means power is on.
1. To switch off when the qID Mini reader is on, press the Power button continuously for 3 seconds only.
2. Then its GREEN LED light is off, means qID Mini device is power off.
Immediate after when qID Mini device is powered on,
Then the “Power LED” will turn:-
either, Green - if battery is more than 35%
or, Orange – if battery is more than 15 % & lesser than 35%
or, Red – if battery is lesser than 15%
And “Link LED” will be off; this acknowledges that qID Mini device is not connected to any
IOS/ Android device.
• Open the TagMatiks Wedge application and login into it.
• On the top left of the application, you can check the reader’s connection status; as shown below.
• As no RFID reader is paired with this iOS device; thus, the status is showing as: “Reader Disconnected”
• To make the connection with qID Mini reader; press “Manage Reader” button - on the left-hand side of application (encircle in red color).
NOTE: Make sure the IOS device’s Bluetooth must be on.
• Then multiple RFID reader options will come on the display.
• You must select “Caen RFID Readers” (encircle with blue).
• Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”
• Bring qID Mini reader close to IOS device.
• Application will show the discoverable reader’s name; as shown below:
• The reader’s name will be “RFD8500XXXXXXXXXXXXXX”; where “XXXXXXXXXXXXXX” is the 14 digit value of the device's serial number.
NOTE:
When no qID Mini reader is there near by the IOS device.
OR
If the Bluetooth of qID Mini reader is Off.
OR
qID Mini Reader is not in paring mode.
OR
qID Mini Reader is already paired with another IOS/Android device.
Then TagMatiks Wedge application will show “No Available Readers.” Refer below image.
• Now press on the available Reader name.
• Once you press on the reader's name, then the application will start making a connection with the qID Mini device.
• On successfully connectioned, then will open the new windows, named: “Readers Settings.” refer below image:
If qID Mini device is “ON” but couldn’t connect to the IOS device. Then there is possibility that the qID Mini device is already paired & connected to another IOS/Android/Windows device. To check the same, please follow following steps
I. qID Mini device LED status check:
• Check the status of the “LED Link” light.
• If it is solid “Blue”; means qID Mini device is already in paired with another IOS/Android device; as shown in below image:
• If it is “OFF” then no connection is established
• If it is solid “Orange”; means USB cable is connected to either Power adapter or to computer.
• Else it is solid “Green”; means qID Mini device is in configuration mode.
II. On TagMatiks Wedge Application: qID Mini Reader check:
• Press “Manage Reader” button - on the left-hand side of application (encircle in red color).
• You must select “Caen RFID Readers” (encircle with blue).
NOTE: Make sure the IOS device’s Bluetooth must be on.
• Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”
• If no reader comes/reflects in the reader list.
• This means:
No qID Mini reader is there near by the IOS device.
OR
qID Mini Reader is already paired with another IOS/Android device.
Then TagMatiks Wedge application will show “No Available Readers.” Refer the image.
• To read the RFID tags from qID Mini reader; press “Inventory” button - on the left-hand side of application.
• Then a new window will open, named: “Inventory.”
• Create a new Inventory transaction, by pressing “+” button on the right bottom of the application.
• Press “Scan” button (on the right bottom of the application) for reading the RFID tags.
• This means the qID Mini reader is in polling state and reading the tags. Same can be seen in the TagMatiks Wedge application window. Refer below image:
• Once you Press “Stop” button (on the right bottom of the application); qID Mini reader will stop reading the tags.
• As a result, the read tags will populate on the application window, as shown in below image.
